Metallurgical soundness, dimensional accuracy, a good surface finish and easy and rapid production are the major considerations in gravity and low-pressure diecastings of aluminium and magnesium alloys. PMC SURFEX products ensure these aspects by protecting die faces, lubricting moving parts of the die, aiding release of the casting from the die and controlling thermal gradient and solidification:

PMC SURFEX - 113 and PMC SURFEX-130 are diluted with sater depending on the method of application-spraying, brushing, swabbing or dipping. For the most common method of spraying, the dilutions are in between the rations of 1:3 to 1:5. However exact dilutions are to be established by experience. The die temperatures to be controlled between 120° C and 150° C.

In high pressure diecasting, the molten metal in injected at a high velocity into the die. This causes soldering of the casting and of the casting and to the die surface and erosion of the die faces. Use of PMC SURFEX products help in overcoming these problems. It also helps to produce a soind casting with better surface finish and easy removal from the die.

PMC SURFEX-213-1 is to be diluted by usig soft water to the desirable levels (upto 30 times) depending on the parameters like casting size, die temperature, lubrication required. Optimum dilution levels are arrived at on the shop floor by trial and error method. The product has to be sprayed uniformly on the die surface possibly for every shot.

PMC SURFEX - 600 is to be applied by swabbing method in the areas where problems of release or wear are expected.
